As a compact SUV, it competes in a very popular and competitive segment.

Although it does not present major innovations in terms of style, the T-Cross brings some attributes that make it stand out among its competitors. In this article, we will explore the characteristics and differences of this new Volkswagen model.

Style and Design of the Volkswagen T-Cross

The design of the Volkswagen T-Cross follows the brand's new philosophy, maintaining the same DNA in its cars. This could lead to a certain visual similarity with other Volkswagen models, such as the Polo and Virtus.

However, the T-Cross has some differences compared to the European model, especially in the front and rear bumpers, which were redesigned to adapt to the Brazilian market.

Furthermore, the Brazilian T-Cross is slightly longer, offering generous and comfortable interior space for occupants.

Internal Space and Comfort

Volkswagen-T-Cross Internal Space

Thanks to MQB-A0 platform, shared with the Virtus, the T-Cross offers excellent interior space.

Even taller people can comfortably fit in the front seat, without compromising space for rear passengers.

During a test drive, journalists reported more than 10 centimeters of legroom in the back seat, even with a tall person in front. The front seats are praised for their comfort and good body support when cornering.

Trunk and Finish

The trunk of the Brazilian T-Cross is slightly smaller compared to the European version, due to the presence of the emergency spare wheel.

However, it still offers a reasonable load capacity, ranging from 373 to 420 liters, depending on the position of the rear seat backrest.

In terms of finish, the T-Cross features quality materials and a good level of refinement. However, some details, such as the excessive use of plastic in certain areas, could be improved, especially in the Highline version, which is the most complete.

Volkswagen T-Cross safety

The Volkswagen T-Cross stands out when it comes to safety. The Highline version, the most equipped, offers six airbags, traction and stability control, hill start assistant, three-point belts and head restraints for all occupants, in addition to four-wheel disc brakes.

The post-collision system, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of an accident, is also present. With these features, the T-Cross guarantees a safer and calmer drive.

Performance and Mechanics

The Volkswagen T-Cross Highline 250 TSI is equipped with a 1.4 TSI turbo engine, which offers 150 horsepower and a maximum torque of 25,5 kgfm.

With this package, the T-Cross has agile performance and impressive speed recovery. The six-speed automatic transmission complements the engine, providing smooth and quick shifts.

The car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8,7 seconds and reach a top speed of 198 km/h. In addition, the T-Cross offers different driving modes, such as economical, normal, sport and individual, which adjust the accelerator response, steering and gearshift according to the driver's preferences.

Suspension and Behavior

The Volkswagen T-Cross' suspension was designed to cope with our road conditions, with 11 millimeters more height compared to the European model.

Even so, the car maintains a good balance between comfort and stability. The T-Cross absorbs irregularities in the road well, conveying a feeling of robustness.

Furthermore, its dynamic behavior is praised, providing precise and safe steering, even in tighter curves. Traction and stability controls contribute to more confident driving.

Prices and Versions of the Volkswagen T-Cross

The Volkswagen T-Cross is offered in four versions: 200 TSI, 200 TSI Automatic, Comfortline 200 TSI and Highline 250 TSI.

The entry-level version, 200 TSI, starts at R$84.990, while the top-of-the-line version, Highline 250 TSI, has a suggested price of R$109.990. It is worth noting that prices may vary depending on the options chosen.

The T-Cross is available for pre-order and will be available in dealerships from mid-March.

Conclusion

The Volkswagen T-Cross arrives on the Brazilian market as an interesting option in the compact SUV segment.

With good internal space, comfort, safety and satisfactory performance, the T-Cross proves to be an attractive choice for those looking for a versatile and modern car.

Despite some points to be improved, such as the finish in certain areas, the T-Cross stands out among its competitors. If you are looking for a SUV Compact, it's worth checking out the Volkswagen T-Cross and its different versions before making your purchasing decision.
